Currently, in my life while living on campus at San Diego State, I have faced some problems. One of the major problems I have faced this year and my freshman year of college is the lack of transportation. People who live on campus with cars can go anywhere in San Diego whenever they want to, such as the beach, downtown, Balboa Park, or the San Diego Zoo. They have the luxury and freedom to be able to leave campus and experience life outside of school housing and school life. However, it is much more difficult for those without transportation such as a car to leave campus. There are some ways students without cars can get off campus such as the trolley and zip cars. However, zip cars cost money, and can be expensive when only trying to take a trip to buy groceries or going to the beach.

The trolley is another way students can get around, but the trolley stations are only located in specific areas, so you may not be able to reach your destination without another mode of transportation on top of the trolley. For me, I have been fortunate enough to have friends with cars, who invite me to take trips to the store or beach.Muni | SFMTA

Back in San Francisco, the city had a great public transportation system called Muni, and it seemed like I could take the bus wherever and whenever I wanted to go without much walking. It seemed like every major street had Muni and it came every ten minutes, so there wasn't a big wait. However, in San Diego, there is not this type of transportation system in place. The buses are not as accessible as they are in San Francisco, and they seem to not go to as many places as well. Another immediate impact when living on campus is the noise of construction. There are many new buildings being built in and around campus, and the noise from construction can be bothersome, especially in the mornings.
